Common Questions

  • None at all. The F1 was designed for people who've never fermented anything. The app walks you through your first batch step by step, and the temperature control handles the most common failure point automatically.

  • Start by sourcing your starter liquid (SCOBY) - a yeasty and friendly bacteria thriving liquid kombucha. You can use a bottle of raw, unpasteurized plain kombucha from the store, or get a starter from a friend, neighbor, or online.

  • Temperature consistency is everything in fermentation. Kitchen counters fluctuate — too cold and it stalls, too warm and off-flavors develop. The F1 warms your brew at the ideal range, every batch, regardless of your kitchen. Alongside high-quality materials, our modern convenience features improve the experience.

  • The vessels and lids are designed for easy disassembly and cleaning. Bottles can be cleaned after every use, and the jar can be cleaned every 6 months to a year. Because the jar uses a continuous brewing method, it needs less periodic cleaning. The liquid is acidic, so it wards off any harmful bacteria!
